The attention to detail is very important. Jeff and crew did a wonderful job on 20. The lettering is correct for a three year span in the forties. 20 had the Defense Supplies Corporation lettering on the cab and tender as well as the "skinny" RGS sunburst herald during that period. Jeff and crew did extensive research on 20 to insure it was correct.
Back in 2000, we rebuilt Goose 2's engine (29/30 Buick) The CRRM was invited to run 2 on the D&SNG that summer. After some cosmetic restoration 2 was repainted and myself and crew rel-lettered it.
We stenciled the Defense Supplies Corporation on the doors. Just like it was when Bob Richardson got it from the RGS. The lettering is correct for 1942 to the end of the RGS. People would ask us what does that mean.of course we were glad to explain. 2 still retains that lettering scheme.
