This new spur went up around a 4% grade. and angled to the southwest:
Shortly, I came to a cut:
The grade continued to curve around to the left and soon you could see it was approaching a saddle in the hillside:
Coming through the saddle, the grade curved to the south:
The 2017 Railroad Fire was quite intense in this area. Without the trees, you would have a clear view of California's Central Valley.
I then came upon some extensive rock work used to stabilize the grade:
I've seen plenty of small rock fills, but this one was a little more extensive than most. I'd say it was about 8 feet tall.
