Admittedly, this thread has wandered and is now a few hundred miles east of the Thompson River canyon and it's cliff edge railroad. Yes, the 2816 train did stop at Lake Louise station overnight, and switched out the diesel. Canadian Pacific had set up a special photo runby at Morant's Curve, not for passengers but for photographers on the road above the curve. In the early morning the train ran to the curve, but was stopped because it arrived too early for the sun to rise high enough for the shadows to dissipate. With the sun reaching the curve, the 2816 crew was asked to back around the bend, but with dewy rail 2816 struggled to start the backing move



The train virtually disappeared in a cloud of steam



After a successful backing move, the train came charging out of the woods and into the early morning light (see post above)
