Olaf, the plan was to unload the cars on the street in Silverton, but so many people were there to greet the train, the town officials became concerned and decided to unload at the wye. The track backed to the wye where the box car was unloaded, then the 493 and box car were uncoupled from the flat. A flatbed truck drove onto the track and the ATV was driven off. Then a forklift removed the rail motor car. As there were Silverton officials on the train, it returned to town. After they and D&S management got off, the train returned to the wye and then we headed back to Durango. I was the only rider on the return.
With the equipment removed from the flat car, the return trip had the feel of being on a freight train.
