Actually, maybe we (or at least you) could Bill -
Although not this year, when – IF she's up and running again in time – IMHO #489 should be painted up as #483 for at least the week of September 1-6 so she can re-create the very first six days of C&TS operations on the EXACT (day AND date) Fiftieth Anniversaries thereof.
See [ngdiscussion.net] et seq – especially [ngdiscussion.net] and [ngdiscussion.net] – [ngdiscussion.net] for further information.
2025 is another story, though — May 21 that year will be the 75th ANNIVERSARY of #489's first appearance in Moffat Green: a Rocky Mountain RR Club excursion from Salida to Monarch and then down the Valley Line as far as the wye at Villa Grove (see [
ngdiscussion.net] for Donald Hills' photo of this train crossing the trestle at Mears Junction). May 21, 2025 will be a Wednesday, so maybe you'd rather wait 'til Saturday, May 24, for your excursion (which is likely to be the C&TS' Opening Day), or maybe May 25 - the anniversary of our 2010 'Springtime in the Rockies' charter, which would allow Saturday and Monday (the latter being Memorial Day) for travel to Antonito from and back to the Denver or Albuquerque depots of the U.P and BNSF, respectively.
