A few months ago I met with the property owner Dan Stoddard who was more than willing and felt well enough physically to give me an on-foot tour of the tank and surrounding structures on the property. He is suffering from 7 different autoimmune diseases and has had trouble getting around. 10-15 years ago before he started having medical issues he was working on stabilizing the tank and had plans for gaining road access to the property. He has a lot of stories about his battles to get easements for the property, constructing bracing and stablizing the tank, Finding attempts to remove his efforts and other vandlization, etc. He knows a lot of relatively obscure and unknown history of the property, Like the town of Elkco, which was about 0.18 of a mile north of the tank, it had a section and bunkhouse, and one or two other small structures.
The land is for sale, I made a post a while ago about it. Dan had good intentions but can't carry any of them out due to his conditions.
