From here it was off to Silverton. Driving to Silverton through the annual bike race was interesting. Getting past them going up hill wasn't too much of a deal, but these loonies screaming past you going down hill at 60mph was a bit un-nerving.
The weather had turned into a high dark overcast, which made photographs tough if you got too much sky in the light reading. This shot of the train making the run for town south of Silverton took a bunch of photo shopping to even get this good...
In town stopped at 12th and Blair St.

One of the operational changes the D&S immediately made was to turn the train in Silverton during the 2-hour lay over. After both the train and helper 476 turned, 476 hung around in Silverton until shortly before the scheduled departure, then shuffled out of town.
Followed a bit later with 473 and the train.
