I don't think its a matter of where views are coming from(Other websites), but I think Roger is interested in seeing how many people are actually taking the time to view his videos, and stills that he posts frequently. He and I both belong to Trainorders.com, a site that requires a subscription fee. There we can watch his videos in full screen, and each thread has a views counter. Thus if there is a discussion on say Big Boy 4014, you can see how many responses(Written replies) there are, as well as how many thread views.
I and others like Roger will post pics and videos from time to time, and I think Roger is wanting to know if its anyone is really watching what he puts up there. I know I have posted photos, and videos, and there are hardly any comments, but then we don't know how many are really viewing it. The views would be a good barometer of the interest there really is. Others have said they do not post "kudos" for all the images and videos they see, so a lack of responses might mean to the poster that nobody is interested, or cares.
By the way, while I am mentioning Trainorders.com there was a great thread recently where a guy rode in a high side gondola, from Chama to Cumbers on a freight in 1962 I think it was. The conductor asked if he wanted to ride, though it was not an official okay from him, or something like that. NG readers here would really enjoy it. You can go see the stuff without a subscription but you will only get thumbnails of the images.
Years ago I believe the NG Discussion board did have a view counter, but I could be wrong. Not speaking 100% for Roger, but I think that might be his reason for asking about the views. True he can check youtube views which would solve the total number of views for a video, but may not break it down to each original link.
The NG board still works good, so if it never gets the views I am okay with it.
