Remebber, too, that almost as soon as the San Juan was discontinued in 51, 473 and 478 were designated as switch engines and fitted with power reverse.
The 'Grande had leased as many Mudhens as possible to the RGS, but several of them were still active into the 50's. K-28's had little going for them to justify any additional finacial investment at the time.
One of the boilers was returned, though, and used as the shop boiler in Pueblo for many years.
