Baltimore & Delta (1878) used grade from unfinished Baltimore, Hampden & Towsontown (1874). Opened to Towsontown and a few miles more, 1882. Merged with Maryland Central (uncompleted std gauge project from 1867) 1882 in an attempt to score funds promised to MC by the city of Baltimore (failed). reached Delta, jct with York & Peach Bottom of Pennsylvania (Y&PB completed 1876, history goes back to 1868).
Merged with Y&PB in 1891 as Baltimore & Lehigh, then lost the Pennsylvania lines in 1894 during a receivership. Rejoined as Maryland & Pennsylvania (MA & PA) in 1901.
PA lines converted to std gauge in 1895, Maryland lines in 1900. B&D section abd 1958.
[info from: _The MA & PA, A History of the Maryland & Pennsylvania Railroad_ by George Hilton, 1963, 2nd edition 1980]
The diverted 292 & 293 (B&D 3 & 4)appear to have been the largest engines on the lines in the narrow gauge era. #3 sold to Banner Lumber co of Kentucky, #4 wrecked 1899..
