The engine was out of service when I arrived in Chama in the fall of 89. We got it rebuilt to use in a movie filmed in the winter of 90-91. After its use in the movie (where it was disguised as a caboose) we painted it into "Rio Grande" colors. It was the first piece of equipment to get the "flying" Cumbres & Toltec herald.
It got snow plows at each end so we could use it to help keep the yard open in the winter. We intended to put extendable wings on the plows so that with the wings extended on the leading plow the snow would get pushed far enough away that the rear plow would not scoop it back on to the track.
