Those are awesome photos. When I was 8 or 9 years old, my dad took us on an Amtrak overnight adventure from Sacramento, over Donner Pass to Truckee and back. I remember what it was like going through the snow sheds. About 4 years ago, I tortured my wife and kids with a trip from Denver to Emeryville and was surprised by the realignment and new tunnel that cuts out all of the older snow sheds.
