By using a 'photo host', rather than the 'built-in' NGDF photo function, one can display .png files and also have much larger images as well. Plus, using a photo host means the server cost$$ for those larger images are not borne by the NGDF server host. Since NGDF does not charge membership fees, there is something to be said for minimizing the host's costs where practical.

There are lots of photo hosts that can seamlessly integrate photos with the NGDF. Some are even free to the user. I use and like a free account at Postimage.org: [postimages.org]
