The Pullman sleeper is being restored on the property of the Pikes Peak Historical Street Railway. The group owns 18 cars, 11 of which are PCCs with a variety of heritage. Apparently part of their mission, at least in early years, was to build a 2-mile long downtown trolley line. There are examples of urban heritage trolley (and steam) railways, but they tend to not be long-lived without the right kind of facility and political/community support. Often times a heritage line is installed to generate interest in a flagging commercial or industrial district, which suddenly becomes extremely successful with the quaint trolley line. With the resulting skyrocketing land prices, land developments, road and park improvements, and congestion, the little trolley is in the way of what City leaders and investors see as their new goal to earn revenues and manage an area.
