Bruce,
Yes, I have the book. I even made a post about it about a week ago.
The photos were taken by a Navy railfan machinist that was assigned to Pearl Harbor from 1943-46. He used a 4-1/4" x 3-1/2" format press camera. Appearently this camera had a seperate film back that did not have to travel in and out of Pearl Harbor security.
This is the first of an expected three volumes. Volume I is photos taken at the Oahu's Honolulu station and nearby roundhouse and engine servicing facility. The next two volumes are expected to cover Oahu beyond Honolulu as well as various sugar lines; also to included are trips to the Big Island and Kauai during extended leaves in 1945 and 1946.
There are photos of the Oahu ALCO 2-8-2s as well as the various ALCO out-side frame 0-6-0s, BLW 2-8-0s. In fact all of Oahu's engines except the Shays are covered. Included is the ex-Pacific Coast, ex-N-C-O 4-6-0 that was seldom used.
But no photos of the operations at Pearl Harbor in this volume.
Wonderful photos reproduced one or two to a page. I recommend it!
