Hi Ted,
Well, you did hit on the other side of the coin. In truth there is absolutely no substitute to hearing Eureka come alive; to hear her air pump panting, to smell the pine wood and valve oil, to hear her work up the grade, and to see her strut her stuff through the Rocky Mountains. Ain't no doubt about it...when I pull on the throttle and ease out of the station, the smile Eureka puts on countless peoples faces is enough to keep me doing it. I guess I'm a real glutton for punishment, but God, I do love it.
