Yeah, all things wood are a mystery to me, and (as a self-anoited NG god) I can barely tell plywood from plate steel, but we had all sorts of quality and delivery problems from "Downsouth Guy". I know that we switched to the Amish place*, get -stellar- service from them, and use -primed- Douglas Fir now, for longevity. They also store and cut seasoned white oak for us, which we previously got from Illinois. Frequently two years late, I might add. Quality has cut 34' timber sills for us. I don't know if that is their limit, but they can do at least that.
