Some of the recent discussion about the new WP&YR diesel caused me to look at the current roster of passenger cars.
The railroad's website provides this summary of its passenger car fleet:
Quote
Coaches
WP&YR has a total of 79 cars, with an average of 43 seats in each car and a total seating capacity of 3,360.
The total length of all cars is 3,768.1 feet with an average length of 47.5 feet. The weight of all coach cars is 3.81 million pounds with an average weight of 48,332 lbs. The average age of each car is 44.2 years old. the oldest of which is #244, the Lake Emerald, built in 1883.
It then has an internal link to a tabular listing of this equipment:

Summarizing this listing:
26 - 33% - Heritage Cars
19 - 24% - steel cars built 1969 through 1999
34 - 43% - steel cars built after 2000
79 - Total passenger cars
All of these cars have a heritage appearance as they all have open platforms.

See second post below for a revised count due to the WP&YR website having a list 12 years out-of-date.
