Re: RGS 42 Question

That is the cast Baldwin smokebox front the engine originally came with. Engines 40, 41, and 42 as well at T-19's 22 and 25 had flat steel fronts made and installed by c1940 because their originals rusted out and had to be replace. 42 had three that I know of: The original, a replacement that was done sometime c1940, and then finally a cut down front door from one of the T-19s when they were scrapped. 41 got the other one. Only the 20 kept her original Schenectady front.

I actually think the final iteration was door and hinges only, sloppily applied at the last minute of operations.
