I was shooting with two FTNs in Vietnam when the 135mm lens was shot off of one by a sniper. If he had aimed about two inches closer I would not be here. That is the lens that went to the Nikon Museum in 1974. Nikon offered me money for it when it was on display at the Air Force photo school in Denver. I told them I could not take money, but they could give money to the Air Force dependent scholarship program and they did!
That happened to another photographer in Vietnam, Larry Burrows. I think he was a LIFE magazine photographer. I think Nikon had his lens also.
