Critters: The most unusual wildlife encounters I've ever had riding on the C&TS have been:
1. A number of years ago Train 215, with Jeremy Garcia as the engineer, heading for Chama, coming out of the Narrows around MP 342.2 when a sow with two cubs stands up in the middle of the ROW and dares Jeremy to go past her. It was quite the experience and he did finally get her and the cubs to move off of the ROW.
2. At about MP 336.5 Train 216 was heading up the Pass when I saw a Badger sitting on a berm no more than 10' from the train just watching us go by.
I think that what we humans have to realize is that we are INVADING their territory and we should be respectful of that fact!
