Ryan, Craig and Brian: Per NG Pictorial Volume IV a D&RGW UTLX Frameless Tank Car vessel OD measurements are 28'10" L x 76" W which gives a capacity of 6,716 gallons. It would seem that the weight calculation in lbs would depend on the weight of a gallon of whatever was put in the tank. As Craig said a gallon of Crude weighs around 7 lbs so a full load would weigh around 45,500 lbs. If the liquid weighed 9.2 lbs per gallon then the total weight would be just under 60,00 lbs. Any ideas about what liquid would weight that much per gallon?
