If the one that Lon is asking about is the abandoned site that had been worked in recent years with the large air duct in the entrance, I recall being told a little about it. While it was just last summer that I asked local mine expert Myron Woodley about it, you have to understand, that Myron also runs one of the local watering holes, a visit to which usually leaves me with partial amnesia. He said there was a Canadian outfit that was doing exploration at some of the old workings. I think he may actually have worked for them. The tunnel shown in the photos was to connect with the working of one of the older mines that has it's head works at a much higher elevation. It was a mine that had severe water problems at the lower levels. Their plan as I understood it was to drive this tunnel in to the old system to drain the water. I guess a change in metal prices must have shut down the operation before they actually broke through. Myron is an excellent source of information on most of the local mines and enjoys talking about it, assuming you can avoid the amnesia.
