Steve,
As car #215, it had the sheet metal applied to the baggage doors as early as 1935.
The real #212 was numbered 215 and shipped to Mexico.
The real (and larger) #215 was renumbered #212. This was before the car was painted Gold & Silver for the 1949 RR Exposition in Chicago.
Bottom line is, check pictures of car #215 and it will answer your question.
