After Bob closed his shop in Birmingham, 1744's boiler was shipped to the then IPH-operated Texas State RR. It was our hope to eventually get the rest of 1744 to the TSR as it was too small to be of much use in Alamosa and a perfect size for the TSR. When IPH was removed from the TSR, 1744's boiler was shipped back to Alamosa, where the locomotive sits in a disassembled state.
1744's boiler work was never finished. The running gear also needs an overhaul. Whoever buys 1744 with the idea of making an operating locomotive out of had better be prepared to spend close to another half-million + to get it running in good order.
