Okay, I guess I should step in here since I was the one that suggested the name "Klondike Kate" in February 2017. Really I suggested the name to Kathy Brantigan more as a joke since she just bought the engine and its heritage was from the Klondike. So the name just "popped out" since I had heard the name before. At the time I was not thinking of the historical Klondike Kate from Dawson City. In fact, the Brantigan's didn't even know there was such a historical figure until more then a year later. I knew there was another engine out east that was named "Klondike Kate" at one time but the main difference was that KMRy #4 actually
was in the Klondike while that other engine never was.
Like I said, I suggested the name to Kathy more as a joke but she liked it enough that it stuck and we ended up putting the lettering on its cab. Personally I'm still not that fond of the "name" since KMRy #4 never had a name in her past. But it seems to make people happy and its just paint.
