OK Jon,

Here is what I found in the Field Notes for Valuation Section 17 for the Colorado & Southern.

The interesting thing that I found is that right before the C&S met the D&RG connecting track, there is an abandoned tank listed. It is not listed on the Valuation and is located right next to the C&S Main Line but is definitely not the tank with the stone base that one sees in photos of the Gunnison Roundhouse. That particular tank isn't even listed and the old Roundhouse at this time is listed as being in use as a "Store house" The drawing of the Roundhouse (A pencil drawing, common to the field notes) shows the roundhouse, abandoned turntable, stock yard, old House, old Freight depot. plus it shows scales, scale house and abandoned depot.

So let's go to the structural field notes and see what these things are, shall we?

First off, the abandoned tank is not listed in the Structural Notes. It is abandoned and of no worth to the Railroad.

Let's just start with the:

Tool House 11 x 12 xx 8' over eaves. Painted roof G/4 shingles

Old Roundhouse (Used as store house)
6 stalls @ 65'
It then goes on with the description of the construction of the building.

Bunk house 13 x 20 x 8'

Freight Depot: 20 x 60 x 10' eaves. Painted outside

Privy 4.5 x 8.0 x 7.0 (a two holer)

Bake Oven. 5 x 5 walls 8" thick adobe.

Section House (Old Depot)
20 x 39 x 15.0 eaves (not painted
Roof G/3 single on 1" on 2 x 4 x 24 cc trussed
Proj. 36" celiad & (P)
Walls. Coursed Sandstone 16" thick
Bay (drawing showing 9' at base, 3' projection, 5' face)
finished inside plaster, papered with
4' D&M wainscot
Ceiling Plaster & Papered
2 cross partitions wood lath &
plaster on 2 x 4 @ 24" cc with 4' wainscot
Floor 1" D&M on 2 x 6 x 24" cc on ground
End. as walls 4' deep all excavated
4 doors 3'x 8' panel
16 windows 2 x 7 D.H.

Track Scales 35' 40 ton F.M.
Scale House 4 x 7 x 7.0 eaves painted outside.

There, that ought to give you all a bit to speculate about....

Of course the building descriptions are much more extensive (especially the Roundhouse) but you only asked about the stone depot.
