The weather today was sunny, starting in the mid-60s and ending near 80F. UP #4014 put on a great show, working up Cajon Pass then across the Mojave to Barstow. It was a madhouse out there, but in the end the sheer number of people made me really happy. There were families, friends, young and old, railfans and not - all kinds were out to enjoy and appreciate the treat of seeing Big Boy. I've never seen so many people lining the tracks to watch a train, and it was good.
