Great photos, Scott. I especially like the first photo with the spectacular fall colors. Would have loved to be there, but was a little too far away on that day ( watching steaming volcanos and exploring Japanese WWII fortifications, including a rail- accessed tunnel for five barges inside a mountain, near Rabaul, New Britain island, Papua New Guinea). As for 315 running as helper to Cumbres - this is done rarely and on short notice when the regular train exceeds the 8-car limit for a K36 by one or two cars. With a train of 11 or more cars either 463 or another K36 would have the helper duty.
