Re: C&TS Car in Durango

Nice picture, Jerry. Indeed, the D&SNG has purchased one coach from the C&TS, car 503. I was fortunate enough to accompany it from Chama yesterday, and I had a fun time visiting with John, Avery and others at the railroad in Chama. They were awesome. The truckers did a nice job too, despite two blown tires.

We will be making a few changes to the 503, but nothing drastic. It will receive restrooms and be used primarily on Cascade Canyon and special event train service in 2020. It is a beautiful car, in my humble opinion, and I feel like a kid on Christmas Day. And it looks right at home with our gondolas.

We will be swapping out the 503's trucks for similar Bettendorf, leaf-spring trucks, so the old trucks can go back to Chama. So that will not change. But it will be painted Rio Grande Gold.

Another trade involving freight equipment is ongoing. This should benefit both railroads in the end. You'll just have to wait and see what happens!
