Regular tourist service is offered for a few miles out of Esquel, less regular service from El Maiten and Ing. Jacobacci. Service over the entire line is limited to charters and happens infrequently. At time parts of the line are washed out, but so far they seem to get eventually repaired. The line is owned by the two provinces it runs through is is preserved as a tourist attraction and to provide a few jobs.

It was built to connect the farming communities around Esquel with the outside world.
