Re: D&S Knight Sky seating

Sorry to confuse ya'll. Actually, neither car has shades now. For the a time, the Knight Sky did have shades, but they did now work well and were removed. Thank God. The side windows were built to be installed in winter, removed in summer, to allow the Knight Sky to be used year-round. The Silver Vista on the D&SNG has never had shades. The great photo by Jerry fools the eye, as the yellow car cover on the adjacent car looks like shades.

Confused? Ha Ha. As for the Knight Sky's new seats, yes the airline seats were worn out. The used airline parts supplier was unavailable, and we could no longer repair the cushions. The Hale and Kilborn seat hardware was bought from the Ashbys by my prescient successor at the same time as the Silver Vista seat frames. Last winter, we fixed the second set up and installed them in the Knight Sky. No small task. This makes the seating uniform in both glass topped cars, and allows the Knight Sky to run equally well in either direction. These aren't "faux" flipover seats -- they do work as designed in the early 1900s. And yes, we did make some great drink holders for the Knight Sky. Gotta have them!
