Thanks to Philip Marshall's reference and good photo of the 0-6-0 at Nosy-Be, here is a comparison set of photos. The Porter 0-6-0 at McPhee looks to be a dead ringer for the engine at Nosy-Be. As for the gauge of the sugar plantation railroad, I would accept Thomas Kautzor's 3-foot gauge. Although C.S. Small gave the gauge as Meter in 1953, Meter Gauge is mighty close to 3 foot gauge, and easy to mistake, unless an exact measurement is made, especially since virtually every other rail line in Madagascar is meter gauge
