I'm a network engineer (I'm the dude that makes the internet work) and though the technology today is vastly different from the telegraph system, the idea is the same: connect people. I have a ton of respect for those that did this work... and a bit of envy for the simplicity of the technology they used.
One of my dream projects is to rebuild the telegraph line from Chama to Osier so passengers can "send a wire" and get it on the other end. If John Cole or I ever win the lottery, it just might happen.
