In fact, 453 was being cut up, in Durango, just as the movie it starred in, was making it's initial showing in town! The scrapping of of 453 occurred in Durango, because it's boiler was to go to the Weideman lumber mill south of town, to be used in conjunction with the boiler from 456, which was supposedly already there! (Information from '53-'54 narrow gauge news)
