As Will said, many of the missing parts from 9228 are inside the car. It was on death row until it got a last minute pardon from the governor

.9228 deserved to live on, GB&l 1020 needed a firiend, Como could use an end car for its train (someday anyay, or at least that’s what I tell myself) the Loop was nice enough to spare the car and let it go for a reasonable price, and someone was stupid enough to take on the care an feeding of yet another Rio Grande High Side Gondola, everybody came out happy.
