Amazing, thanks for sharing. Looks like the first time these coaches have been out in the open in awhile. Is it intended to operate them once and awhile on the WWF or just again to assure a weather proof long-term storage, abet with connection to live track? It is a definite valuation of the WWF, to which I belong but have not yet visited from Germany. If these cars have been determined to be the "core collection" by the Maine Narrow Gauge community. Then once under roof, there should be a push for active fire protection, sprinklers & sensors.
I experienced the aftermath of the D&S roundhouse fire, and the German National collection suffered a roundhouse fire in 2005 which destroyed some early electrics and diesels. Most of the steamers have at least been cosmetically restored, but naturally it didn't do them any good. And each steam was sent to different museum, care takers and restored on a case by case basis in the last 15years, but they have never been re-united in once place to become a collection again. Collections have advantages but catastrophes can happen...
Respect and cheers to all involved. Somewhere in the next 4 years I'll make it to Maine to see all the hard work. Back to the regular program..
