About 2.5 miles out on the branch the brush encroached so much on the right of way that it was difficult to maneuver my truck without scratching paint. Time to unload the bicycle...
About 3 miles out I spotted what looked like the site of a water tank:
There's a permanent stream here and just above the right of way was a flat spot that may have held a tank:
(The shiny metal object on the right is a more recent water storage cistern)
Next to the flat spot was a decent sized piece of pipe as well as some scattered pieces of rotted lumber:
A rail joiner was nearby:
There was also a large amount of old tin cans in the area.
Permanent water supplies are few and far between in this area. It would make sense that Madera Sugar Pine used this water supply.
