D&RGW Brakeman cabins Doghouses
I show #453 had the doghouse installed in October of 1944. I believe it remained until scrapped in '54. The RGS used a partial brakeman shelter on a lot of the K-27s though. These were mounted off center on the engineer's side. There seems to be two shelters that were transferred between the locos on the Southern. One has a back with a flimsey looking top often supported with a 2x4, the other looks more substantial with a side on the water hatch side. Looking through pictures I compiled this quick list with some dates:
