For the sake of clarity, the locomotive that you are discussing is Eureka Nevada Railway Number 7. Eureka & Palisade Number 7 was a Baldwin 4-4-0. In 1914-15 the EN purchased Number 7 and two other small Porter engines to replace the four very old locomotives then in use as all four had iron boilers and didn’t meet new standards set by the ICC. EN Number 7 was said to be slippery and a poor puller on the railroad’s 2% grades. It is a good looking engine but was not well liked by crews or management.
