Craig, I'm pretty sure the roundhouse had big pot belly stoves for heat. Plus if you have more than 1 hot loco inside it stays pretty warm. At CRRM 491 alone is enough to keep the cold at bay in the winter.
Also they would not leave the doors open during the winter unless you had equipment moving in or out.
