To branch from the doubleheading thread:
I've often wondered how both the D&S and the C&TS are going to handle bridge replacement. The only bright side to the Lobato trestle fire is that it was, effectively, fully rebuilt and ought to be good for a couple decades of low maintenance at the very least.
But then there's Cascade trestle, the bridges over the Animas, and in some ways most significantly two timber truss bridges that are all highly historic in their own rights.
Has anyone heard speculation on long term plans on these structures?
