Dave
Thanks for the offer! If I am ever up in your neck of the woods, I'll give you a call. Several of my friends at VGT have YAKs. but I have never flown in one. I have my own set of wings and fly all over.
By the way, someday I have to write a history ;of how my airplane contributed greatly to the restoration of Eureka. During the years when I restored the locomotive I was flying all over the west looking for parts, information, visiting foundries, etc. etc.etc. If I drove to all the places I would still be putting the old locomotive back together.
Also the airplane is a great way to chase old railroad grades across Nevada. I remember one time I flew to Carson City with a 727 pilot and friend of mine. He was amazed at the history of all the railroad grades I pointed out to him as we cruised along. It was something he never saw or thought about at 30,000 feet and above. Now he is a member of Eureka's crew and a narrow gauge fanatic like the rest of us. Amazing how aviation helped put the narrow guage hook in the mouth of a 727 captain !
Attached is a picture of me landing at VGT.
