I don't want to hijack this thread, but since you asked:
I don't miss running diesels in the middle of the night AT ALL. But running steam will forever be in my blood, especially on the narrow gauge. As the C&TS does not appear to be interested in my services, I signed on with a local VERY narrow gauge steam operation when they came calling. I've been working for the 15" gauge - 5/12 scale (that's 5" to the foot, 36" gauge) Paradise & Pacific in Scottsdale. Pretty cool. I had to learn to run with my right hand and fire with my left.....
At least it keeps me out of the bars.....
