Kauai Plantation Railway has 4 coaches in operation at this time. Three are enclosed and one an open seating coach. The closed car names are: HANALEI, WAIMEA and WAILUA. The open coach car is named WAINIHA There are two other flat cars also on property, one is used in work train service the other. stored on ground along the rail route. All six cars were purchased from the White Pass & Yukon Ry as flat cars. Flat car numbers 1147, 1150, 1179, 1184, 1188 and 1190. These flat cars were originally built as export box cars by Pullman Standard for the Ferrocarril del Estate Railway of Argentina but acquired by the United States for us in Hawaii in World War II. These cars were cut down from box cars to flat cars and used in Alaska before returning to Kauai in 2006.
