Locomotive is still under construction. This is a private project by our museum president and a board member, not by the museum, but it will be located here at the museum when complete. No problems with construction, it's just taking longer than originally expected - it takes a long time to build a complete locomotive from scratch, hasn't been done for a very long time, and the constructor is a small company. The last time I saw it, several months ago, final assembly (which is a long process in itself, not just bolting together some stuff) was underway, and our president tells me that the level of fabrication continues to be outstanding. He hopes it will be done late this year, but no guarantees, it will be done when it's done. I can say that from what I have seen, it will be gorgeous. The work is really impressive. Patience will be rewarded.
Right now our museum focus is on an operational restoration of RGS passenger coach 252. Outside is complete, asbestos remediation is complete, right now we are building completely new windows, which we hope to have painted and installed by the end of May. Trucks are under construction by outside contractors. Hope to have it on wheels by this autumn, with some interior work done. Seats, brakes, etc will hopefully be next year.
