Re: When is #18 scheduled to return to Independence?

This is not correct: "This is some very serious damage". The #18 only needs a new piston casting, new rings for both pistons, and a new piston head casting or plate and it will be fine as new. The piston cylinder was not cut or damaged in any way. Will be fixed as quick as they can have a piston cast, or get one from a display engine, and a plate drilled. Right from the start this was explained that there was no serious damage, such as a chunk of the cylinder casting broken out. That is why I wonder if the cylinder head studs are scored in their center to make that the weak spot to break before a casting is damaged. The engine will be repaired and continue to run at Durango. Sorry to challenge that mistaken statement but these are the facts.
