OUCH!!!
Can't be as bad as my Betacam SP camera and me taking a tumble during the Rotary run of 1993, somewhere between Garcia's trailer and Hamilton's point.
The camera was around $17,500 new in 1992. Back in those days you had only B&W viewfinders. So I didn't know I had a major problem until a couple weeks later when I got home and played it on a Betacam SP deck! All the video after the camera hit the snow was pink! Apparently the chip-block that makes the colors was damaged. Luckily I had a 2 year warranty and time left, cause the part alone was $5,000.00. I only had to pay $500.00 for the labor to Sony. I paid $1,000 to a place to do color correction on the footage, and I shot 30 30-minute tapes during the time in Chama including the Rotary and a shortened charter due to the soft track at the State Line curve. Point is the car running over the drone wasn't as bad as my scenario. The color correction worked to a degree, but its one reason I have hesitated in putting "Tripleheader Rotary" onto dvd!!!
Cheers,
Greg
