I was very close to one of the original volunteers that helped pull the Shookum out of the woods back in 1960. He was always sad when he saw the pile of rusting parts thinking that she would never be put back together again. He passed away recently at the age of 95 but he did live long enough to see the Skookum under steam and that did bring a smile to his face.
Skookum running again, steam returned to Como, rebuilding a C-18 in a city park (and many more) are all things that make me really grateful to the people who are not smart enough to know that these things are
impossible and are just foolish to attempt. I hope these people never "wise-up".
