I was afraid of that. I suspect they want to run during the window when the regular trains are all clear of this time slot. Makes operational sense really. I suppose if someone wanted to try my suggestion you could see if they would cut you a deal, to get on the first train to Silverton at Rockwood, get off at a determined location, then shoot pics of the two other trains going to Silverton, and get on the diesel to return to Rockwood. Probably too much effort for the RR, and it would only yield 2 shots. Also they probably would charge you the full fare if you had to ride one of the steam trains from Rockwood. Maybe they need a "RAILFAN" Railbus that could be chartered. Leave at 8 am from Rockwood, drop off fans at spots they want, and pick them up after all the steam trains have returned past a determined point, staying out of the way. The goose could provide this also!!! Cascade and Elk Park would be good places to clear for the regular trains, and Needleton would make a good place to get steam trains as they stop and start after taking water. Better have pepper spray for critters though!
